FAQs
CPD HOURS
How can I obtain the maximum amount of CPD Hours available at Optometry Virtually Connected?
Attendees who attend a full stream of sessions, plus the keynote and plenary sessions AND achieve a 50% pass on the optional assessment component will obtain up to 10 CPD hours.
Recordings of all sessions will be made available on the Optometry Australia Institute of Excellence. An additional 7.5 CPD hours (a total of 17.5 CPD hours) is available to OA Member attendees who indicate they have watched an ‘on demand’ session and complete the multiple choice questions.
Please note that you cannot receive CPD hours for an ‘on demand’ session if you have already attended the ‘live’ session.
Will Optometry Virtually Connected include ‘interactive’ hours?
Optometry Virtually Connected is an entirely online event and, at present, there are no “interactive” hours planned. The virtual nature of this conference, with its high volume of delegates, means that setting up virtual conference rooms for small group discussions, which enable a two-way flow of interaction, is difficult to facilitate online. AHPRA/OBA’s definition of “interactive” activity is “Learning that involves 2-way flow of information and occurs with other practitioners, such as face to face OR interactive online education“. You will most certainly have the opportunity to be able to obtain all your non-interactive CPD requirements (including therapeutic requirements) by attending the various elements of Optometry Virtually Connected.
I'm wanting to watch the conference with someone else. Will I get CPD Hours.
Unless you log in from your own registered account your CPD hours will not show up in your learning plan. You can, however, manually upload your points to your learning plan. The platform will only recognise the delegate account which is logged onto the platform.
LIVE PROGRAM
How do I access the live program on the day?
A week prior to Optometry Virtually Connected, you will receive a separate Zoom Link invitation via email which will allow you access to the live and on demand sessions.
This link is unique and linked to your Member ID or Delegate Web ID if you are a non OA member.
On the day you can access each live session by clicking the Join button once on the Zoom Events platform. Once the session is closed a recording will be made available on the Institute of Excellence for OA Members only to watch on demand. Information will be sent to OA Members on how to access the recordings once they are uploaded to the website.
WEBCASTS
Will my attendance at a live webcast be automatically uploaded into my Institute of Excellence Learning Plan?
Optometry Australia members: Optometry Australia will automatically upload the live presentations that you attended into your Learning Plan.
All other delegates: You will be provided a copy of your attendance certificate as proof of participating in the CPD program.
Will sessions be recorded?
Yes, all live presentations will be recorded, however there will be no recorded live presentations available to watch in the main lobby of the Zoom events platform this year.
Optometry Australia members only will be able to find all the recordings on Optometry Australia's Institute of Excellence website in the weeks following the conference so that CPD hours are automatically added to their CPD portfolio. We will advise members via Your Education when the recordings are available.
NZAO members will have access to the recordings via the NZAO member portal.
